Renewable Energy Projects

Working closely with our development partners Empowering Wind Limited Steve Hesmondhalgh & Associates LLP prepared the reports and assisted in the preparation of planning applications on a number of sites in the South West of England.  Most recently these have included reports that focussed on the Landscape and Visual Impact of a proposed wind turbine on the landscape and historic setting of land around Bodmin Beacon in Cornwall.

Steve Hesmondhalgh & Associates LLP have also been working on a collection of other sites with Empowering Wind Limited.

We are all aware of the controversy that surrounds the creation of large wind farms across stretches of the UK's countryside.  The urgent need for renewable energy sources means this is certain to continue.  However Empowering Wind Limited and Steve Hesmondhalgh & Associates LLP have been working on  a large number of brownfield sites across the North East and expect these to roll out over the next 12 months. While the UK's commercial development market remains slow, the most effective use of larger parcels brownfield land may well be through the creation of small to medium size wind farms and all landowners should be encouraged to consider wind turbines as a genuine alternative to other forms of development.

We also work throughout the farming community in advising on smaller scale turbine projects that focus on embedded renewable energy generation. A planning approval for a wind turbine can provide both a farmer's energy needs for the next 20 years and an income from the turbine over this period.
